What is woman urethra ?
Urethra is channel to excréteur allowing the emptying of the bladder. It is closed in its party superior by 2 muscles (sphinctères) which by contracting and relaxing allow the regulation of the urinary fluxes.

So, deliberately, by unloosing his sphinctère they allow urine to leave the bladder. At the woman, urethra is very short (about 3 cm) and results in vulva between the clitoris and the opening of the vagina.

What is man urethra?
Very good anatomie, urethra (spelt sometimes urèthre) is the channel of exit of vessie. It has an excrétrice function in both sexes (exit of urine) and furthermore at the man a reproductrice function (passage of semen). At the man, urethra measures about 20 cm and comes out at the end of the penis.

At the man, urethra is longer than at the woman, and it is composed of several parties having each a function. At the man, urethra is divided into three leaving, indicated according to their location:
  • Prostatic urethra
  • Membranous urethra
  • Spongy urethra
